In Pokemon GO, shiny Pokemon that have previously been released often make a comeback as featured specimens during themed events or celebrations. One such example is the Journey to Paldea event, which sees both shiny Larvitar and shiny Bagon get some attention. With the return of shiny Larvitar, Trainers will be eager to see if they can get their hands on one, as well as the evolved forms, shiny Pupitar, and shiny Tyranitar.

How to Get Shiny Larvitar, Shiny Pupitar, & Shiny Tyranitar in Pokemon GO

Shiny Larvitar, shiny Pupitar, and shiny Tyranitar have been available in Pokemon GO for a while now. However, encountering them is not often easy, as you need to not only find them in the wild or via a Raid, Egg, or other method, but also beat the lucky shiny odds to encounter one in shiny form.

However, with the Journey to Paldea event (Nov. 2 at 10 AM local time – Nov 9 at 8 PM local time), Larvitar is being put in the spotlight. This means that Trainers have a much better chance at stumbling upon a shiny Larvitar, as there will be more of them spawning in, giving you more chances at beating the odds. In addition to this, Journey to Paldea has also boosted the shiny rates for Larvitar, making this one of the best opportunities yet.

How to Get Shiny Larvitar in Pokemon GO

In Pokemon GO, Larvitar is generally available as a wild spawn or as a hatch spawn from 10 km Eggs. It has also been previously featured as a 1-Star Raid boss or as a reward from certain Field Research tasks during events. However, it is quite tricky to get a shiny Larvitar through these general methods, which is why the Journey to Paldea event is now key.

During the Journey to Paldea event, the chances of shiny Larvitar spawning in have been increased, giving Trainers one of the best opportunities to capture one yet.

Throughout Journey to Paldea, Larvitar will be available as a wild spawn on December 2, 4, 6, and 8. It is also a possible reward from one of the three Field Research Tasks.

However, the best opportunity to try and get shiny Larvitar is through the paid Premium Timed Research, which can be purchased during Journey to Paldea for $1.99 USD. This research offers many tasks, half of which reward encounters with Larvitar. Players can guarantee an additional seven encounters with Larvitar through this research, so if you’re farming as many spawns as possible in hopes of a shiny, picking up this Premium Timed Research may very well pay a helping hand.

How to Get Shiny Pupitar in Pokemon GO

In Pokemon GO, Pupitar is also available as a wild spawn. However, this is the only method in which it is obtainable, making it a tricky Pokemon to gain in shiny form. It is also not featured in Journey to Paldea, meaning that the easiest way to obtain shiny Pupitar in Pokemon GO is through evolution, after obtaining a shiny Larvitar.

Shiny Larvitar can be evolved into shiny Pupitar with 25 Larvitar Candy.

How to Get Shiny Tyranitar in Pokemon GO

Tyranitar is also available as a wild spawn, and has previously been available as a 3-Star Raid boss. However, the chances of finding one in the wild are very low, so again, evolution is the best method of obtaining a shiny Tyranitar. This means that players will first need to get their hands on a shiny Pupitar, which is most easily obtained by first gaining a shiny Larvitar and evolving it.

Shiny Pupitar can be evolved into shiny Tyranitar with 100 Larvitar Candy.
