Almost anyone who plays Marvel Rivals has questioned it at some point – “Which heroes would be a great fit for the game?” Between all of the leaks, fan-favorite picks, and general speculation, there are quite a few characters many fans expect to see at some point. However, it’s also important to consider which other options may not have yet been considered, and how they could work.
Without further ado, here are six Marvel heroes who would be a perfect addition to the Marvel Rivals roster.
Iceman – Vanguard

Bobby Drake is one of the most powerful mutants in the world, with complete control over anything related to ice. He has a ton of impressive abilities that I wish could be showcased in a game such as Marvel Rivals.
Despite being a little small for the general Vanguard build, I imagine Iceman functioning similarly to Groot – place large walls of ice and make ramps or platforms to stand on. I also see him being able to place smaller, translucent walls of ice, acting as a shield. His primary fire would be simple shards of ice, not dealing huge damage, but instead having good range.
There’s also fun potential for the likes of ice paths that speed up his teammates, but can freeze/slow his enemies. Of course, there would probably have to be a large cooldown or make them somewhat easy to destroy, in the sake of balancing. For an Ultimate, he could have a large AOE that spikes of ice shoot out of, freezing players in it while also dealing damage and potentially inflicting knockback.
Ant-Man – Vanguard

Hank Pym sucks. It’s just a fact. However, he didn’t always suck, and I think he holds a lot of fun potential for Marvel Rivals. In my mind, Ant-Man is basically a stereotypical Vanguard, he’d have two versions to play as – just like Hulk, but this time, bigger. You’d have classic Hank mode where instead of a gun like Bruce, he has Pym tech, where he can throw and detonate bombs on enemies.
Giant-Man would be, well, huge. Your primary attack here would simply be stomping on people, with your ability being punching the ground and potentially stunning your enemies for a moment. For an Ultimate, of course, a swarm of ants can come into play, perhaps sweeping through an area. Think Squirrel Girl’s Ultimate, but off the ground so it has the chance to go after flying heroes.
Wonder Man – Duelist

Simon Williams is a pretty powerful guy, and one who doesn’t always get a chance to shine. He is considered one of the strongest men in the entire Marvel universe, and would be a great fit to the Duelist roster in Marvel Rivals.
He’d be another flying fighter (which I’ll consider his passive), but I can also see him swooping down to use a secondary attack, basically beating an enemy up with some sort of ability combo. His primary attack would, of course, be his energy blasts, which I can see having a shotgun like effect – not a lot of range for a flyer, but having a larger radius of damage.
I can also see an ability to turn into his ionic self to escape, reposition or perhaps self-heal – similar to Wanda’s phase. For a second ability I can envision an explosive blast that increases his movement speed whilst also dealing AOE impact damage to enemies. For an Ultimate, he could turn into his ionic form fully for a short time, gaining no additional buffs, but also having several seconds of invulnerability that enables him to content a point and block incoming threats, or alternatively, to deal damage.
Havok – Duelist

Alex Summers is often overshadowed by his brother, Cyclops, but Marvel Rivals has proven that it will give even smaller characters a chance. Havok here, would be a great fit for the Duelist role. His powers include absorbing almost every type of energy imaginable, cosmic, radioactive, electric and even heat of all things. Throw him into the sun and he just comes out stronger. But, with all the energy he absorbs, it must come out – usually in very destructive ways.
think it would be really interesting if he didn’t have ammo, but recharged instead by damage being taken. Of course he would naturally regenerate slowly, but it would charge faster with each hit he takes, basically taking their ‘energy’ then expelling it. His primary fire would be shooting pulses of plasma, with a short range but high damage output.
For abilities, the power to create an expulsion of accumulated energy, dealing damage and knocking enemies backwards could be fun. For a second ability, enhances movement through his plasma blasts would also work well. As for his Ultimate, think of it like an inverse of Emma Frost. He would create a large area where plasma circles push away everyone in front of him while also inflicting a significant amount of damage, great for zoning and map control.
Tempus – Strategist

A relatively obscure character, Tempus has control over time itself. She can create bubbles where time flows however she wants it to, with some bubbles even big enough to fit entire cities inside. There are very fun ways in which these powers can be adapted for the Strategist role in Marvel Rivals.
Her main ability would be ‘bubbling’ her teammates to heal, or around her allies to harm, similar to how Gambit has a Hearts Deck and Spades Deck to draw from. She could also have a main attack/heal of simple bubble-like shots that are like a faster version of Rocket’s bubbles to support this.
For her Ultimate, I can imagine a high-healing output AOE bubble, like a stationary Luna Snow Ult, that can be switched between healing allies with high, rapid bursts, or instead damaging allies and creating stuns on every so many damage bursts/bubbles accumulated.
Quick Silver – Strategist

Quicksilver has a lot of potential as a Strategist hero in Marvel Rivals, especially with his powerset. He has the power of superspeed and everything that comes with it, including being able to think thousands of thoughts all in less than a second, and reading hundreds of books in mere minutes.
Implementing this into Marvel Rivals would be tricky to do in a non-game-breaking way. So, I propose the ability for Quicksilver to grab teammates and move them either away or into the battle, providing a burst heal on anyone grabbed. I can see a passive that affects him only, enabling him to gain Speed when not taking damage or transporting teammates. There’s also potential for a quick-dash ability that creates a temporary streak that heals any teammate who enters or goes through it.
For Quicksilver’s primary fire, he could use accumulated speed from his passive in superspeed punches, which consume accumulated speed and slow down on an empty resource meter. His ultimate would be where his speed goes into its max mode, with him being able to lock on to other players, fully healing whatever ally he runs to, but also creating bladed streaks behind him that damage any enemy who goes through one, and at the same time regenerates any ally’s health.
