PEAK’s Roots update introduced a brand-new second-stage biome to explore, as well as a variety of new items and consumables. Many of these new additions are linked to another set of badges that can be earned to unlock more cosmetic rewards for your character.
One such example is the Advanced Mycology Badge, which involves the new Shroomberry item. If you’re wondering what Shroomberries are in PEAK and how you can use them to get the Advanced Mycology Badge, all of the information you’ll need has been outlined in the guide below.

How to Earn the Advanced Mycology Badge in PEAK

To earn the Advanced Mycology Badge in PEAK, players must find and consume every variant of the Shroomberry food within a single run. There are five different kinds of Shroomberry available in PEAK, with each variant taking on a different color – Red, Orange, Green, Blue, and Purple.
However, you will need to be careful, Shroomberries will also grant different effects upon consumption – some of which are negative! Each color of Shroomberry grants one random effect that is rotated among them each day.
In addition to this, eating a Shroomberry will also result in you taking on some spores status effect. Luckily, you can cook the spores out of them. This means if you come across a portable stove, or manage to collect all five Shroomberry colors and make it to a campfire, you can rapidly consume them all to avoid worrying about taking on too many spores.
All Shroomberry Types & Where to Find Them in PEAK

In PEAK, each color of Shroomberry can only be found in the Roots biome. Players will first need to climb the Shore for the chance of the Roots spawning in on rotation as their second-stage climb.
However, until November 17, 2025, the Roots biome is a guaranteed spawn. This makes it a great opportunity for players to grind out new badges that are reliant on this area, much like the Advanced Mycology badge.

To find a Shroomberry in the Roots biome, you will need to keep your eyes peeled in the grass, tree branches, and cliff ledges/faces, as these are all areas in which they can grow.
Chances of finding Shroomberries are random, so you may need to explore quite a bit to collect each color and consume them. Alternatively, you can consume them on the go as you find them, but this may make it harder to keep track of which ones you have left to find.

However, you don’t actually have to cook/purify the Shroomberries to get the badge. If you wish to, you can risk it with the effects and eat each Shroomberry without cooking it at all. Either way, after you eat all five different colors, you will automatically earn the Advanced Mycology Badge in PEAK. As a reward for earning the badge, you will also unlock an Antlers item in the headwear section of your Passport.
