Rockstar Games recently posted to all social media accounts that they have decided to delay GTA VI’s release until November 19, 2026.

Here is the statement directly from Rockstar:

“Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026.

We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.

We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City.”

GTA VI was originally supposed to release sometime in 2025, but was later delayed until May of 2026. Now, the game’s release has been pushed back another 6 months.

On the bright side, could this mean that Microsoft and Sony are planning on releasing a new console and Rockstar wants their game to be a launch title? It is certainly possible, but seeing how Sony has been releasing their consoles on a steady 7 year cycle, I wouldn’t get my hopes up.
