PEAK has introduced a brand new biome to the game with the latest Roots update, which kicked off on October 5th, 2025. The Roots biome is a new second-stage climb, which will be in full rotation until November 17, when it will begin to alternate with the Tropics.
The new Roots update does not just give a new biome, though, as there are plenty of new items, foods, and badges to collect. One such badge is the Competitive Eating badge. If you’re wondering how to achieve this one, then all relevant information has been included in the guide below.
How to Get the Competitive Eating Badge & Find Hot Dogs in PEAK
To earn the Competitive Eating badge in PEAK, you will need to eat 3 Hot Dogs within 5 seconds or less. Hot Dogs are a new type of consumable food item introduced in the Roots update, and they can be found at campfires.
This means that in order to gain three Hot Dogs while playing solo, you will likely need to climb through at least the first three stages. This will be the Shore, the Tropics/Roots, and the Mesa/Alpine. If you have multiple people in your party, there will be more chances to get multiple hot dogs at a campfire, too, as there should be one consumable per person in your party.
However, Hot Dogs are not a guaranteed spawn item at campfires; they are an additional consumable alongside Marshmallows. This means that there is a chance you may spawn only Marshmallows instead, or a mix of the two. To maximize the chances of as many Hot Dogs as possible spawning in during a run, you will want to bring a full party of friends for your climb.
Once you have three hot dogs in your inventory, you will need to put them all in your hand-held slots, and then eat them in quick succession of one another (no more than 5 seconds total for all three). It will not matter if the Hot Dogs are cooked or not, as long as you manage to devour them in time!
Completing this task will successfully earn you the Competitive Eating badge in PEAK. Following the conclusion of your climb, you will now unlock a new costume piece – a fun drinking hat option for headwear.
