How to Complete Side Mission 011 – The Kakuna Master in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

To begin Side Mission 011 – The Kakuna Master, players will need to find a young girl named Montee. Montee can be located in the Jaune District, standing by one of the trees in Jaune Sector 1. Her exact map location has been included in the screenshot below.

Once you find Montee, speak to her and she will tell you that she wants to become the strongest Kakuna user. She will then wish to challenge you to a battle, so take a moment to heal up or visit a nearby Pokemon Center before initiating the match, if you need. Once you are ready to begin the battle, speak with Montee again to confirm, and the match will kick off.

How to Beat Montee in Battle

In Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Montee is a Bug Type trainer only, and primarily uses Kakuna for her team. This means that it’s generally very easy to counter, as long as you bring at least one strong Pokemon with a Type advantage.

Montee’s complete Pokemon team has been included below:

Pokemon 1Pokemon 2Pokemon 3Pokemon 4
Kakuna
Kakuna
Kakuna
Beedrill

Kakuna are very weak to Fire, Flying, and Rock Type moves, so you should prioritize bringing these Pokemon to the battle. In particular, Fletchinder is a very strong choice, as it has both Flying and Fire Type advantages, as well as being quite a quick fighter.

During the match, Montee’s Kakuna will try to raise their defense to outlast your attacks, so Pokemon such as Fletchinder, who have speedy attacks/movement as well as Type advantage, will give you a massive upper hand. Defeat her three Kakuna, and she will send out her Beedrill. Beedrill is a bit more aggressive and offensive, but you should be fine as long as you keep your Type advantage in play.

After you defeat Montee in battle, a short cutscene will now play out where a second one of her Kakuna evolves into Beedrill, leaving her team with two Kakuna and two Beedrill.

Once this is done, the Side Mission will now conclude, and you will gain your final rewards from Montee. These rewards have been summarized below.
