How to Get Mega Shards in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

In Pokemon Legends: Z-A, you will notice clusters of pink Mega Crystals all over Lumiose City. These clusters can be found on the ground, on walls, and on rooftops, among other places.

While Mega Crystal may obstruct certain areas, they can actually be broken to gain Mega Shards. To break Mega Crystals, summon one of your Pokemon, and use a damaging move to break through the crystals. The type of your move does not matter, meaning you can break Mega Crystals with any Pokemon to obtain Mega Shards.

Larger clumps of Mega Crystals tend to appear when wild Mega Evolution encounters are around, so keeping an eye out for them can be handy. Mega Crystals will also respawn after some time has passed, meaning you can keep circling the city at every opportunity to farm as many as possible.
You can further increase the amount of Mega Shards you will gain each time you break a Mega Crystal by acquiring a Pink Canari Plush.

The Pink Canari Plush can be purchased with Colorful Screws from the construction worker merchant. Colorful Screws can be found from purple item Poke Balls across Lumiose City. You also have the option to buy multiple Pink Canari Plush as you continue your playthrough, continuously improving the amount of Mega Shards you gain.
