In Pokemon Legends: Z-A, your Trainer will join the Z-A Royale as part of the main storyline. The Z-A royale is, as the name suggests, a battle royale system in which Trainers set out in Battle Zones each night, facing off against one another to earn points.

By doing so, Trainers will be able to accumulate points to try and reach the very top of the Z-A Royale. If you’re wondering how to promote your rank in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, all relevant information on how to do so has been outlined in the guide below.

How to Promote your Z-A Royale Rank in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

In Pokemon Legends: Z-A the key to increasing your Z-A Royale rank is through utilizing Battle Spots and participating in the night time battle-based gameplay loop. All players will start from rank Z when they first enter the Z-A Royale as Team MZ’s newest member, and must work their way up one rank at a time, eventually hitting Rank A.

However, there is a process that you must follow each time you would like to increase your Rank. After hitting a new rank, your Rank Score will reset to zero. You must then participate in Battle Zones each night to accumulate more points.

Fast Travel to Battle Zone

Every night, the Battle Zone will be highlighted on your map, meaning you can instantly fast travel to it, in order to make the most of each night, as Battle Spots are only available for a few minutes at a time (from nightfall to dawn, in-game hours).

Participate in Battles With Other Trainers in the Battle Zone

Every Battle Zone will be crawling with Trainers that you can battle. However, Trainers who are higher Rank than you will try to catch you out with a surprise attack, so you should also make use of crouching with the L button, and using natural cover to sneak around and hit their Pokemon first.

For every battle that you win in a Battle Zone, you will accumulate points. You will be able to see progress on your battles won, current Medal, and current points.

Points are what are needed to continue climbing the ranks, whilst medals can influence the amount of money earned at the end of each night in the Battle Zones. You can also pick up various cards across each Battle Zone for bonus challenges that can be completed to earn more medals.

When you lose to a Trainer, you may lose progress/medals, so be sure to use every advantage possible, from Type counters to sneak attacks, and healing items, of course!

Earn Enough Points For a Challenger’s Ticket

Once you have accumulated the necessary amount of points by winning Battle Zone matches, you will be rewarded with a Challenger’s Ticket.

The Challenger’s Ticket enables you to enter in battle against your rank-up match opponent for each Z-A Royale rank. Your challenger will be stated in the Z-A Royale menu screen, and will also be indicated on the map with a story mission marker and green flag symbol.

Travel to Your Rank-Up Opponent & Start the Battle

Unfortunately, you cannot fast travel to promotion match challengers, so you will need to allow time to set out on foot. If you don’t get enough time to accumulate all the necessary points and your rank-up match in one night, then you may have to break it up into multiple trips. Thankfully, your points do not reset with each night, so you can truly take your time training up before each rank-up match, if you wish.

After reaching your opponent and starting the match, all you have to do is defeat them in battle. From there, you will gain your rewards and be placed up one rank, enabling you to start grinding for the next challenger and continue working your way up.
