How to Complete Side Mission 001 – A Big Ol’ Bunnelby in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
The A Big Ol’ Bunnelby side mission in Pokemon Legends: Z-A is one players will want to get out of the way, as it is one of three initial side missions tied into a story mission that progresses your main gameplay. As the title suggests, you can expect to encounter an unusually powerful Bunnelby, marking one of the first instances in which Trainers will come across Alpha Pokemon.
To begin the A Big Ol’ Bunnelby side mission, head over to the area marked on the map below, around Rouge Plaza.
Here, you will find Trevelle standing with a side mission indicator over his head. Go ahead and talk to him, and he will explain his problem, noting the quest in your objectives log. Now, you can work on completing and finalizing the quest. Luckily, as the first one, it’s a pretty simple task.
After explaining the problem of the big Bunnelby, Travelle will head over to the location where he spotted this Pokemon. You will now need to run a few streets over until you reach the blue map indicator below, where Travelle will be waiting.
Talk to Travelle again, and the Bunnelby in question will make an appearance. This Bunnelby is an Alpha Pokemon – as indicated by the glowing red eyes.
In Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Alpha Pokemon are larger, more aggressive variants of a Pokemon species – a mechanic that has returned from the prior Pokemon Legends: Arceus game. Alpha Pokemon can also be captured, so this can be a handy way to get some powerful monsters on your team for the Z-A Royale.
As the Alpha Bunnelby appears, you will now need to go up against it in battle and knock it out. Whether you capture it or not does not matter for completing Side Mission 001. After you have defeated or captured the Alpha Bunnelby, you can wrap up the quest by finishing the discussion with Travelle and gaining your rewards.
