Charms aren’t just shiny trinkets in Ghost of Yotei.
Charms are your power-ups. Game-changing accessories that boost Atsu’s survival, even if you’re just wandering the forests like a meditative monk. Some heal you at the last second, others juice up your sword strikes or make resource gathering less of a grind. If you’re planning a hardcore run, you’ll need the best charms to keep you running.
Below, we’ve broken down every known location from hotsprings to fox dens at the far edges of the map.
How Charms Work

Charms come in three broad categories: offense, defense, and utility. You can equip multiple at once, though new slots only unlock as you collect more. A few charms are tied to Traveler’s Maps, while blue-icon charms unlock additional effects if you complete upgrade challenges.
The Best Charms

Some charms in Ghost of Yotei are worth chasing early. The Charm of Amaterasu is a standout, letting you heal with every kill, while Taro’s Charm of Last Chance gives you a built-in safety net by reviving you at the cost of spirit. For defensive players, the Father’s Charm rewards perfect parries with health restoration, and the Charm of Thoughtful Restoration offers a reliable max health boost once you’ve visited more Hot Springs. Ranged players will get the most mileage out of the Mother’s Charm, which powers up arrows, while the Charm of Brutal Volley makes thrown weapons surprisingly deadly. Together, these create a strong foundation for both offense and survival.
Yotei Grasslands: The First Region

The Grasslands hold your earliest charms. Some can be purchased from Taro, a scrappy NPC vendor, while others require shrine-hopping or side quests.
Charm of Amaterasu

Location: Automatically in your inventory if you bought the Digital Deluxe Edition.
Effect: Defeating enemies restores a moderate amount of health.
Taro, the Charm Vendor

Taro joins your Wolf Pack after you rescue him south of Shikotsu River. Once saved, he sells a rotating stock of charms:
- Charm of Last Chance – Auto-heal when you take lethal damage (costs one-third of max spirit).
- Charm of Fortune’s Grip – If disarmed, your weapon lands closer; you also gain a sake jar.
- Charm of Confident Strikes(upgradable) – +1 spirit when staggering enemies with a Katana.
- Upgrade challenge: Stagger sword enemies with a Katana.
- Charm of Healing – Boosts Heal Technique potency when you’re at half health or below.
- Charm of Furious Attacks(upgradable) – Tempest Strike deals bonus damage.
- Upgrade challenge: Stagger polearm enemies with Dual Katanas.
Note: Taro expands his shop as you progress and may reappear at camps.
Charm of Thoughtful Restoration

Location: Reward for finding your first Hot Spring.

Charm of Bountiful Harvest

Charm of Mount Yotei

Location: Solve the Reliquary of Courage puzzle. Rotate four wolf statues until they all face Mount Yotei.
Effect (upgradable): Unlocks Mountain Reliquary puzzles.
Mother’s Charm & Father’s Charm

Location: Found at the peak of Mount Yotei after a lengthy climb of grapples, jumps, and shrines. Rewarded alongside the “Inheritance” trophy.
- Mother’s Charm (upgradable): Arrows deal slightly more damage.
- Upgrade challenge: Learn new Shamisen songs.
- Father’s Charm (upgradable): Perfect parries restore health.
- Upgrade challenge: Complete Sumi-e paintings.
Note: Don’t take the rope shortcut down immediately — the peak holds an Altar of Reflection and other rewards.
Charm of Brutal Volley

Location: At the Grassy Hill Fox Den. Help a settler escape a pit, then pry open a barred passageway to an Inari Shrine.
Effect (upgradable): Boosts thrown melee weapon damage.
Upgrade challenge: Defeat enemies with their own weapon.
Charm of Uncanny Aim

Location: Found in the Lake View Fox Den. Rescue the foxes, then enter the second cave to discover the shrine.
Effect: Increases quickfire weapon damage.
The Bottom Line

That’s every known charm in Ghost of Yotei so far, even including that pesky Digital Deluxe edition one. Some are easy finds, others demand shrine puzzles or long treks up Mount Yotei itself. Collect them early, upgrade them often, and you’ll have a toolkit that makes every fight — and every climb — just a little easier.
