If $90 games like Bloodlines 2 with day-one DLC are getting you down, you’ll be glad to hear that Team Cherry isn’t overcharging with Hollow Knight: Silksong. This week, the game will launch (September 4th) for just $19.99.

Twenty bucks for an indie game like this feels just right. But in a year when major releases are climbing to $70 and beyond, the Adelaide-based studio is bucking the trend by being modest. It’s true, they have raised their price from the original’s $15, but that’s just to keep up with inflation (for reference, inflation from 2017 to 2025 totals at 31.79%, add that to $15 and you get $19.77).

The price confirmation comes after a GameStop listing raised eyebrows last week. Fans assumed it had to be a placeholder. They couldn’t really be charging so little, could they? But Team Cherry says nope, pay what it’s worth, enjoy it forever.

Free On Game Pass & Out This Week

Xbox game pass adds retro titles.

Silksong will also arrive day one on Xbox Game Pass too, making it an even bigger steal. For those keeping track of launch times: the adventure goes live at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET / 4 p.m. CEST on Thursday, and hits midnight Friday in Australia.

With the industry constantly trying to bump up prices,Team Cherry’s showing how wholesome the industry can be (at least on the indie level). And for a long-awaited sequel to a game that sold over fifteen million copies, Team Cherry won’t be missing out anyway.
