The awesome, ancient armour of the sky.

When fully upgraded, the Zonaite set boasts the top defence of all armour sets in Tears of the Kingdom. Its special effect is just as good, adding capacity to your Zonai battery. Not to mention the suit looks pretty slick too.

The catch is that the set is tough to find– each piece is hidden on a sky island in the middle of nowhere. That said, with some clever use of Zonai machinery, you can collect the Zonaite set relatively early.

So to help you with that, here’s Where To Find Zonaite Armour In Tears Of The Kingdom:

  1. Zonaite Shin Guards
  2. Zonaite Waistguard
  3. Zonaite Helm
  4. Zonai Armour Set Upgrades

Zonaite Shin Guards

Grabbing the Zonaite greaves is the easiest of the three pieces. Then, with the greaves equipped, the added battery capacity will make taking the other two a treat. The Akkala Sky Mine is north east of the sky archipelago above Tarrey Town, and directly above the spiral beach called “Rist Peninsula”.

How to reach the Akkala Sky Mine

  1. (Optional) Buy a couple of balloons and fans from the Zonai Device dispenser in Tarrey Town.
  2. Visit the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower, shoot down the Aerocuda, and fix the tower.
  3. Shoot up from the skyview tower, and glide over to the Sokkala Sky Archipelago (floating above Tarrey Town).
  4. Past the Flux Construct boss is an area with a flying machine prepared. Attach the nearby batteries, and prepare to use it to fly over to the Sky Mine to the north east.
  5. Land on the skymine, activate the shrine, and use the ringed Zonai device to activate the island’s machinery.
  6. Use the shifting stone blocks to shoot Link toward the giant orb. Your goal is to land into the sphere from above, where a chest holds the Zonaite shin guards. If you bungle the launch, fast travel back to the shrine you activated and try again.

Zonaite Waistguard

Zonai Forge Island is the second location you’ll want to visit, this time for the chest piece. But before you set sail for the sky island, you’ll need to stock up on two things. The first is a packed lunch of Enduring Fried Greens, or any stamina-replenishers. And the second is a handful of rockets, which are optional but will aid your ascent.

How to reach the Zonai Forge Island

  1. Visit the Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower, ascend into the tower from the cliffs below, unlock the doors, and launch from the skyview tower.
  2. Fly south to the West Necluda Sky Archipelago and activate the Ukoojisi Shrine
  3. Buy a hydrant from the Zonai Device dispenser near Ukoojisi Shrine.
  4. North of the Ukoojisi shrine is a scrapyard of rockets and platforms. Here you’ll need to make your aircraft.
  5. Pile the rockets on the platform, attach fans if you have them, and start the machine– when one rocket expires, attach another and start again. When you’re high enough (you’ll have used all the rockets), glide over to the Zonai Forge Island (which looks like an odd set of towers.
  6. Interact with the ringed Zonai device to start the tower fans and fly to the upper, central tower.
  7. Press R to dive. Do your best to dodge the lasers and activate the Yansamin Shrine when you land.
  8. Walk around back of the shrine by using your hydrant (or Splash Fruit) to create stone platforms on the lava.
  9. Use ascend by the carved wall. You should pop up in the secret room with a chest– and the Zonaite Waistguard inside.

Zonaite Helm

If you thought finding the waistguard was convoluted, you’ve got a further challenge in front of you: one of the highest points in the game. There is a long laundry list of luggage you could load into your pack, but the most important are stamina restoratives. Cook up Enduring Elixirs, Engerising Elixirs or what-have-you, but if you run out mid-flight you’ll have to start again.

The Zonaite Helm is found on Lightcast Island in the Tabantha Sky, south of Rito Village. Here’s are the steps to get there:

  1. Launch from the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower, and glide northwest toward the North Gerudo Archipelago.
  2. Defeat the rogue construct on the floating platform at the far end, attach the rockets and use them to fly higher.
  3. Once the rockets burn out, float across to the larger island to the north, where another Construct and platform awaits. Repeat the process.
  4. Glide over to the giant orb, regain your stamina, then glide north to the Tabantha Archipelago.
  5. Turn the mechanism so the launcher points north, and use it to glide to Lightcast Island.
  6. Activate the ringed Zonai device at the northern end of the island to lower the water level.
  7. Enter the central cave, destroy the blockage and begin the light & mirrors puzzle.
  8. Light the final mirror, destroy the Construct, and light up the orange button– completing the puzzle.
  9. Use Ascend beside the orange button and pop out beside the treasure chest (with the Zonaite Helm inside). Congratulations!

Zonai Armour Set Upgrades

The Zonaite armour’s set bonus allows your Zoani battery to recharge faster. But to use the set bonus, you need to first upgrade all three pieces to two-stars or higher. Once you’ve helped the Great Fairies, they’ll upgrade each Zonaite Armour piece for the following each level:

  1. 5 Soldier Construct horns, and 10 rupees. (7 defence).
  2. 5 Soldier Construct II horns, 5 Captain Construct I horns, 5 Zonaite, and 50 rupees (12 defence).

  4. 5 Soldier Construct IV horns, 5 Captain Construct III horns, 10 Large Zonaite, and 500 rupees (28 defence).

To upgrade the full set to max, you need: 15 of Soldier Construct horns I, II, and III; 15 of Captain Construct I, II, and III horns; 15 Zonaite ores; 45 Large Zonaite ores; and a princely 2,280 rupees.
