Bokoblins beware.
Now that Link can fuse a boulder, a fan, or a mushroom onto the end of his sword, there are practically unlimited weapons in Tears of the Kingdom to take with you to battle. This also means that the best weapon could be a lousy stick with a dragon’s tooth on the end, so it’s doubly hard to pick the game’s best weapons.
So to narrow things down, this list is the best base weapons. Things like your Traveller’s Swords or Royal Claymores, not Silver Lynel Swords or Bouncy Claymores.
Best Weapons In Tears Of The Kingdom are:
- Master Sword – Best Overall
- Lightscale Trident – Best Spear
- Scimitar of the Seven – Best Shortsword
- Fierce Deity Sword – Best Longsword
- Great Eagle Bow – Best Bow
- White Sword of the Sky – Best-looking Shortsword
- Dusk Claymore – Best-looking Longsword
- Gloom Club – Best Base Damage
- Weapon Repair Tip
Master Sword

Base Damage: 30 (60 against Gloom enemies).
Passive Ability: Durability recharges.
Of course the series’ most iconic sword is on top, but it’s not just because of its high attack. It’s the only unbreakable weapon in the game (almost). Instead of splintering as usual, the blade shatters and it recharges for ten minutes– after that, it’s back to normal. It makes for a perfect fallback, or guinea pig for new fusions, and it gets a special beam attack when used with the Champion’s Leathers armour.
The catch is that it’s a tough find. It’s on the Light Dragon’s head, who never stays in one place, and you need two full stamina wheels to wrench it out. But if you follow the main quest along, you can miss it.
Lightscale Trident

Base Damage: 22
Passive Ability: Water Warrior
The Zora’s ceremonial spear is not just for show. Its base damage is only beaten by the cursed Gloom Spear, and that doubles when Link is wet. If you want to take advantage of this, just toss a Splash Fruit at Link’s feet before a fight and you’ll skewer your competition like shrimp.
To get the Lightscale Trident, complete the Zora main quest and visit the general store. Talking to the blacksmith will start the side quest “Glory of the Zora”, and ask for: a Zora spear, 3 diamonds, and 5 pieces of flint.
Scimitar of the Seven

Base Damage: 28
Passive Ability: Strong Fusion
The Gerudo’s sacred sword (Scimitar of the Seven) isn’t stronger than the Master Sword, but it’s shinier, and since short swords are so useful, you’ll probably want both anyway– even if it’s just to hang on the wall of your mansion. You can get this by completing the Gerudo main quest, and by completing the side quest “The Missing Owner.”
Fierce Deity Sword

Base Damage: 38
Passive Ability: None
The Royal Guard’s Claymore can technically beat out this sword (by one point), but it’s half as cool and twice as ugly. You can get this unique weapon after you’ve collected the three Fierce Deity Armour pieces and returned to the cave where the “Misko’s Treasure: The Fierce Deity” quest began. If you somehow found the set before stumbling into this cave, you can find it to the north of the Foothill stable.
Great Eagle Bow

Base Damage: 28 x3
Passive Ability: Triple Shot
The Great Eagle Bow is a real devastator. Add a Keese Eyeball to the end and the arrows home in like cruise missiles, or add a Bomb Flower on the end and you can carpet bomb all enemies into oblivion.
To get it, you need to complete the Rito Village main story. When the blizzard has settled, talk to chief Teba, and he’ll offer to craft it for you, so long as you bring him the materials. What he needs are as follows: a Swallow Bow, 5 Wood Bundles, and 3 Diamonds. It’s a steep price for a great prize, and remember to take a snapshot of the bow for your compendium.
White Sword of the Sky

Base Damage: 24
Passive Ability: Improvised Sneakstrike
The White Sword of the Sky isn’t exceptionally powerful or useful. It’s basically just a reskin of a Royal Guard’s Sword, but it’s a stylish reskin. It’s not quite worth going through the hassle of offering three Dragon Claws to three shrines during the “The Mother Goddess Statue” side quest, but it’s one of a kind and makes for a great mantlepiece.
Dusk Claymore

Base Damage: 32
Passive Ability: None
Like the White Sword of the Sky, the Dusk Claymore is another unique and stylish weapon that requires high levels of footwork to obtain. This time you must complete the “Investigate the Thyphlo Ruins” side quest. And this entails using all four sage’s special abilities, which does mean you’ll have to complete the main story in the four main villages. But if you’re the kind of scamp who’d rather skip all that with a few greased palms, you could also just buy the Ganondorf Amiibo figure and use it to spawn a Dusk Claymore.
Gloom Club

Base Damage: 50
Passive Ability: Gloom Toll
If you’ve feared those horrific red masses of eyes and hands called Gloom Hands, you’ll have to be brave to score a Gloom Club. Not only will you have to defeat one of those writhing abominations, but you’ll have to beat their second form: Phantom Ganon. These phantoms spawn with one of three items– a spear, sword, or club– so you’ll have to roll the dice on that too. But the reward is the highest base damage of any weapon, so it’s worth the risk.
The other downside to Gloom weapons is their ability, which drains health from Link. To avoid this, you can either fuse the Gloom weapon onto the end of another weapon, so Link won’t have to hold touch the cursed metal; or by attaching a part from a Light Dragon onto the end of the Gloom weapon, which will heal you up.
Weapon Repair Tip

Since all weapons but the Master Sword degenerate and disintegrate from general use, you might want to keep these weapons on your wall, or make use of this helpful trick:
To repair any weapon to full durability, but it’s an odd one: Rock Octoroks vacuum up nearby objects before blasting it all back at Link, and in Breath of the Wild this would clean rusty weapons. But in Tears of the Kingdom, they fully repair weapons. It’s a strange trick, but it works, and you can visit Death Mountain to find these Octoroks and see for yourself.
