In Tears of the Kingdom, you’re either running for your life or climbing sheer cliff faces. Stamina is a matter of life or death (plus it also comes in handy when you’re impatient or trying to catch a horse).

But increasing your stamina is a whole rigamarole; it requires findging four shrines, clearing them, and missing out on a health upgrade. So what if I told you that you can have your cake and eat it too? By stockpiling stamina elixirs and energising food beforehand, you can essentially have unlimited stamina and enjoy a high-heart count for those heavy hitters.

Best Stamina Elixirs, Recipes & Food In Tears of the Kingdom

Never Run Out Of Stamina Again!

Stamina Elixir Recipes

There are two types of stamina elixirs: Energising Elixirs, which restore part or all of your stamina wheel, and Enduring Elixirs which restore all of your stamina wheel and add yellow bonus stamina. Both require a mix of monster parts and critter bits, with enduring ingredients being far rarer and more coveted.

Energising Elixirs are made with either Restless Crickets or Energetic Rhino Beetles and at least one monster part at a cooking pot– Restless Crickets can be found by cutting tall grass with a sword, and Energetic Rhino Beetles are green beetles that lay still on trees in forests, especially in the Faron region.

Enduring Elixirs can only be made with Tireless Frogs and monster parts– and Tireless Frogs can only be found in the rain (the Hateno Village Well is a hotspot for these and all frogs).

Using extra stamina ingredients in both elixirs will result in more potent potions, but two Tireless Frog made into two elixirs will always be more useful than a double-strength elixir.

Stamina Cooking Ingredients

There are four ingredients for cooking energising food: Stamella Shrooms (found in under trees across Hyrule), Courser Bee Honey (found in beehives in Hyrule forests), Staminoka Bass (found rarely in Hyrule rivers and ponds, and around Rito Village), and Bright-Eyed Crabs (found around Zora’s Domain and on beaches). Over your travels, you’ll likely pick up bushels and bunches and buckets of these, but you can also buy these off travelling merchants if you’re ever running low.

Enduring ingredients, on the other hand, aren’t so plentiful. You have the choice between cooking either Endura Shrooms (which grow on northern sky islands), or Endura Carrots (found around cherry blossoms and on Satori Mountain). With these, any recipe will do, so long as you don’t mix ingredients with different effects– a Mushroom Skewer of Rush Shrooms and Endura Shrooms would be a complete waste. The most delicious-looking of these might be the Enduring Mushroom Omelette, which consists of a Bird Egg, Goat Butter, an Endura Shroom, and a pinch of Rock Salt.

Best Stamina Recipes

There are two undisputed champions of energising food and enduring food:

  • For Energising, it’s the Energising Fish Skewer made from 3 Staminoka Bass which recovers a full three rings of stamina.
  • And for Enduring, it’s Enduring Fried Wild Greens made with 5 Endura Carrots which recovers all stamina and adds two rings of bonus stamina.

These recipes will get you the maximum effect possible from a single dish. But that said, they’re not much to look at, so for more palatable restoratives try:

  • Honeyed Fruits & Honey Candy: Pairing honey with fruits, or cooking honey by itself results in sweet treats.
  • Honey Crepe: This gourmet treat requires rare ingredients, but looks delectable. Mix Courser Bee Honey, a Bird Egg, Tabantha Wheat, Fresh Milk, and Cane Sugar to try it.
  • Enduring Cheesy Meat Bowl: Mix an Endura Shroom, Raw Meat, Hylian Rice, Hateno Cheese, and season with Rock Salt.

(Sadly, you can’t add Stamella Shrooms to get an Energising Hylian Tomato Pizza)

Stamina Elixirs are among Totk’s best elixirs, with Enduring Elixirs being my personal number one pick. They’re useful in and out of battle, and they allow you to cross all terrain– even cliffs you were never meant to scale. And if your money bag is feeling light after a few too many Noble Pursuits, they also sell for a pretty penny too!
