Sony’s latest State of Play broadcast was ostensibly forty minutes of “new” reveals, which, in the language of marketing, often translates to games we’ve already seen, already demoed, or already preordered. (Hi again, Metal Gear Solid Delta.) But buried under a fine layer of déjà vu were some actual, honest-to-goodness announcements — the kind you might actually want to tell a friend about.

Here’s everything from the June 2025 State of Play that was actually new — no recycled trailers, no politely clapped-for remasters. Just the fresh stuff.

James Bond Finally Checks In

After years of radio silence and logo teases, IO Interactive finally pulled the curtain back on 007: First Light. It’s not just the “Bond origin story” you were probably expecting — it’s a full-blown cold-blooded reboot. Young Bond, no gadgets, no Q, and more Jason Bourne than Roger Moore. It’s stylish, stealthy, and aiming for 2026.

ArcSys Does Marvel Without Capcom

If you ever wanted Marvel vs. Capcom minus the Capcom, Arc System Works has you covered. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is a 4v4 tag fighter with a hyper-stylized anime sheen. Think Dragon Ball FighterZ but everyone’s wearing spandex and arguing about mutant registration. Coming 2026. No Ryu, but you might get Moon Knight.

Lumines Goes VR, Gets Trippy Again

Lumines Arise is the latest pastel-colored brain massage from the team behind Tetris Effect. Expect thumping beats, geometric euphoria, and a full PSVR2 experience for when you want to zone out and become a sentient block. Out fall 2025.

Pragmata: Still Alive, Somehow

Capcom’s long-dormant lunar action game returned from the void with actual gameplay, and it’s weirder than ever. You’re a combat-suited soldier hauling around a possibly cybernetic child through a desolate moon base. There’s strategy. There’s shooting. There’s still no clear explanation of what this game is. But it’s “still on track” for 2026, so let’s pretend that’s good news.

Suda51 Is Back and Bleeding Again

Romeo Is a Dead Man is peak Suda51: bloody, brash, and probably running on caffeine and spite. It looks like No More Heroes on even less sleep. There’s ultraviolence, alien energy, neon weaponry, and a tone that makes Lollipop Chainsaw seem subdued. Out in 2026.

The Bloodstained Prequel You Probably Guessed Was Coming

Bloodstained: The Castle Engagement dives back into gothic castle-crawling with a new chapter set before the first game. Same vibes, more lore, and just enough stained glass windows to trigger flashbacks to your Symphony of the Night days. No release date yet, but it’s real.

Hirogami: Fold or Die

An origami-themed action-platformer starring a hero named Hiro. (Yes, that’s the joke. Yes, we’re going with it.) Looks slick, with papercraft parkour and unfolding enemies. It’s the kind of concept that could crash hard or completely slap.

Tides of Tomorrow and Sea of Remnants: What Are These?

Two ocean-themed games showed up back-to-back, neither of which seem to know what they are yet. Tides of Tomorrow is pitched as a “multiplayer story game,” which is about as specific as calling it “a video game.”

Sea of Remnants is a free-to-play RPG for people who looked at Skull and Bones and thought, “Needs more saltwater.” Both out in 2026.

PlayStation Made a Fight Stick Now
Sony announced its own official wireless fight stick. It looks… fine? If you’re deep enough into Street Fighter 6 to care, this is probably on your radar already. If not, well, it’s got buttons. Big ones.

& The Retrailers

Of course, not everything shown was brand new. Baby Steps reappeared to remind us it’s still proudly awkward and still scheduled for September. Ghost of Yōtei got a new story trailer, with Sony promising a deeper gameplay dive in July. Silent Hill f resurfaced with actual combat this time, moving the series to Japan and leaning into floral body horror.

Metal Gear Solid Delta showed yet another trailer — a slick one, sure, but at this point, it’s basically a residency. And Ninja Gaiden Ragebound finally has a release date (July 31), proving it’s more than just a Soulslike fever dream.

So yes, there was a lot of déjà vu. But between the anime Avengers, young Bond, and Suda51’s neon fever dream, PlayStation’s summer showcase managed to sneak in some genuine surprises between the reruns.
