The dark-haired dwarf, Korilla, is the eyes and ears of the devilish Raphael throughout your Sword Coast adventures in Baldur’s Gate 3. Chances are that you won’t officially meet her until Act 3, when you’re making your deal with the devil, but if you’re wiley, you can meet her earlier. She can be spotted among the bushes and backgrounds during Act 1 and 2, and will even save you from the goblin prison during Act 1 if needed.
Besides that, you can also flirt with her a little during your meeting at Sharess’ Caress, which might make you want to save this wayward warlock. That said, you never get the chance to convince her to join you, so you need to be inventive. Freeing her from her indentured servitude must happen during the fight with her and Raphael, so be prepared to jump through a few hoops to secure her happy ending (and not much else).
If you’re you’re willing to jump through the many hoops it takes to save Korilla from her horrid fate, you might also enjoy creating a few custom pins to show off your love for Baldur’s Gate or your favourite party member (mine is Minthara).
In fact, somehow, it’s a less painless procedure than actually saving Korilla–fighting devils by a knocked-out dwarf is hard, designing pins is easy. You have the option of custom colour schemes, patterns, and no minimum quantity. So, whether you want to go big with a bag of Astarion pins, or just want a shiny one of Scratch for your corkboard, it’s worth taking a look either way.
What’s the reward for saving Korilla?
Disapointingly, there is no reward, or at least there’s no items or gold. What you do get is a few more lines of dialogue and a happier ending for her and her sister, Hope.
The sacrifice, on the other hand, is making the Raphael fight– one of the hardest in the game– even trickier, so you’ll need to prepare for it ahead of time by freeing or convincing Yurgir to join you.
How to make Yurgir your ally

Raphael, Korilla, and Yurgir will fight you all at once during the final confrontation in the House of Hope, but you can make this easier by using Persuasion or helping Yurgir ahead of it.
Helping Yurgir requires you to complete the subquest “Break Yurgir’s Contract” during “Kill Raphael’s Old Enemy” in Act 2. You can do this by convincing him to let you search the temple for more Dark Justicars (who turn out to be rats), and allowing Yurgir to renegotiate his contract with Raphael.
Convincing Yurgir requires passing a DC 30 Persuasion check right before the Raphael fight (Guidance and Lucky Rolls help with this). Once you do, he’ll switch sides and you’ll have one less person that can kill Korilla during the fight.
Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Kill Raphael But Save Korilla
As one of the people trying to kill you during the Raphael boss battle, saving Korilla is tricky even with the best preparations. Assuming you’ve allied with Yurgir and freed Hope from the House of Hope’s basement using the Orphic Hammer, you’ll need to:
- Target Korilla with non-lethal strikes. You can do this by switching the toggle for “Non-lethal” in your battle control wheel. You’ll have to do this for every character attacking or you can do this for the character making the final blow, but either way you’ll want to save copiously during this fight.
- Knock-out Korilla in a safe area. This is a tall order on its own, and you’ll have to get creative using Shove and other attacks that push Korilla around. This is because you and Raphael will still be able to kill Korilla while she’s laying unconscious, and Area of Effect attacks often do. The alternative is to draw Raphael as far from the sleeping Korilla as possible for the remainder of the fight. And if she still gets killed anyway, you can toss healing potions at her sleeping body to give her a little more protection.
- Kill Raphael. This goes without saying, but the faster you kill him, the sooner Korilla will be safe. He is resistant to Fire, Lightning, Ice, and Poison, but not Force or Radiant magic.
If you can manage this impressive feat– which is finicky regardless of difficulty you’re playing on– you’ll be treated to a happier Hope and those sweet lines of dialogue. As you won’t get any more exposure to Hope or Korilla, it’s really only worth it for the completionists and do-gooders, but it does feel nice to see that two escaped their chains together.
