Update: A Gameplay Trailer Has Been Released

NetEase Games (Marvel Rivals) and their new studio, Naked Rain, have officially introduced ANANTA (previously known as Project Mugen*).

From the announcement trailer, it looks like Zenless Zone Zero mixed with GTA and Insomniac’s Spider-Man.

The game is an F2P Open-World RPG set to release on Windows, PS5, and Mobile, ANATA is set in Nova City, a sort of new New York. The Grand Theft Auto inspiration is key here, as unlike the more mission-based ZZZ, ANATA focuses on enjoying life in the “wildest city”.

“Here, anything is possible”, they say and just by looking at the movement options, it might be. ANATA’s “3C system,” allows players to swing, run, drive, and dive across the city so you can really play your way.

Like GTA, game emphasizes fun and unpredictability. From chaotic street scenarios like racing toilets to beach volleyball, to monster hunting and combat. In Nova City, you’ll be partying, making friends, racing, and even playing darts.

Who are Netease Games and Naked Rain?

Naked Rain is a new team of developers made up by the Chinese Netease Games. Netease have only recently debuted on the international stage with Marvel Rivals (an Overwatch clone they made after managing Bilzzard games in China for decades). But before that they have been making RPGs and F2P games since the 1990s.

Currently, Marvel Rivals has been recieving mostly postive reviews, so this Anime GTA clone has a good foundation to build on.

Model Downloads Available?

Another interesting tidbit about the trailer release is that they’ve publically released the character models for download on their site.

This means that despite so little being known about the game and characters, fans and creators can use the models for animations, photos and fan art.

Release Date

ANATA has no release date yet, but you can pre-register for updates (and likely in-game goodies) at the site: www.anantagame.com.
