Professional Western Austrlian Artists have until 4 December 2024 to submit.
With a $25,000 prize on the line, and a covet spot in the new Joondalup gallery space (set to open in 2025), the 2025 Invitation Art Prize is looking like it’ll be a fierce competition. The Invitation Art Prize has also recently celebrated 25 years, and had a retrospective exhibition showing off some of the previous winners, like the “roast chook bag” by Emma Buswell.

But that juicy prize money isn’t so easily won, in fact being shortlisted for the prize is only the first hurdle. All short listed entrants will get paid and exhibited in the new Joondalup gallery, but part of that payment goes towards a new artwork from these artists. These new bodies of work will these be part of a second competition for the $25,000 (along with the work being aquired by the City of Joondalup’s Art Collection).

The Artist entries close on Wednesday 4 December 2024, or until the maximum number of 150 entries is received. The works will be assessed based on “the artist’s practice and their potential development of the City’s collection, contributing to its evolving character, identity and value”.
The prize is open to all visual mediums, but has stringent requirements for what constitutes a professional artist, so read the fine print if you’re considering applying.
