MGM+ and Prime Video have announced “Noir,” a new live-action series starring Academy Award-winning actor Nicolas Cage as the black and white hero. The show is based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir and will premiere on MGM+ in the U.S. before streaming globally on Prime Video.
Directed by Emmy Award-winner Harry Bradbeer (“Fleabag,” “Killing Eve”), “Noir” is set in 1930s New York and follows an aging private investigator dealing with his past as the city’s only superhero.
The series is developed by co-showrunners Oren Uziel (“The Lost City”) and Steve Lightfoot (“Marvel’s The Punisher”), with executive producers Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, known for “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.”
“Nicolas Cage is perfect for this role,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios. “We are excited to bring this story to life with such a talented team.”
Katherine Pope, President of Sony Pictures Television Studios, added, “We are thrilled to have Cage on board and look forward to exploring this iconic character.”
Produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, “Noir” promises to add a fresh dimension to the Marvel universe.

Spider-Man Noir (Peter Parker) is a superhero from Marvel Comics’ Marvel Noir universe (Earth-90214). This version of Spider-Man is set in 1930s New York during the Great Depression.

Peter Parker, while investigating a smuggling ring, is bitten by a spider from a mystical idol and gains superhuman abilities. Adopting the persona of “the Spider-Man,” he fights crime and seeks to avenge the deaths of his Uncle Ben and mentor Ben Urich.
